THE RAV

The Story

Widely regarded as the father of Modern Orthodox Judaism, Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik is a towering figure in Judaism in the twentieth century. Born in Pruzhany (now Belarus) in 1903 to an illustrious Talmudic dynasty, he immigrated to the Unites States in 1932 where, as a philosopher, Talmudist, author, and teacher, he came to shape a generation of Jewish leaders and thinkers.

The Rav, as he is known by his students, had a profound influence on the worldview on many Jewish scholars, including the artist.
